Calvin Roebuck has spent years inflating property values for speculators gutting the Los Angeles neighborhood his grandmother helped integrate — until she dies mid-protest at a city council meeting and he discovers her archive of redlining maps, deeds, and evidence spanning sixty years. Fueled by grief and guilt, Cal hatches a dangerous scheme: tank the neighborhood's value through staged blight and fabricated crime data to stop developers before a critical rezoning vote. But when a slick Black developer recognizes Cal's con and turns it against him, Cal learns his grandmother was fighting a far more sophisticated war than he ever imagined.
