Malik

A cream-hided bull camel walks the freight roads of Central Australia as though he owns them — until a snake, a thief, and a stolen string leave him with a torn nostril and no man left to trust. Alone in gibber country, Malik must learn the wild's arithmetic of thirst, dingoes and drought, and take a herd of his own. But a bounty rifle is coming, and the only road left runs through ninety miles of nothing.
