A house in the New Hampshire woods has driven three people mad, and Dr. Arthur Pennick wants to know why. He brings three volunteers to Mirewick House for a two-week study, but one of them—Alice Marston, a quiet library assistant still reeling from her mother's death—feels something the others don't. The halls seem to know her name. The walls whisper memories only she should possess. As Alice sinks deeper into the estate's embrace, the line between sanctuary and trap dissolves, and the others must decide how far they're willing to go to pull her back from something that feels, to her, like finally coming home.
