Black Antler

Something ancient waits in the lakes of northern Manitoba, and it has been patient for a very long time. Five friends from Winnipeg paddle into unmarked territory to celebrate Lewis Pollard's recovery from cancer, expecting nothing worse than blisters and bad weather. But when their canoes are moved by inhuman hands and the forest begins to drum with the clash of antlers, the group realizes their guidebooks never prepared them for what lives between these trees — or the terrible bargain it demands.
