Under Glass

A child's shoe left in a greenhouse could mean salvation or a death sentence. In occupied Prague, 1942, Jirina Polak runs the city's historic botanical garden after the Gestapo arrests her husband—and soon finds herself sheltering Jewish fugitives in its underground cellars and tropical houses. With a German botanist making unannounced visits, an informant among her staff, and a raid closing in, Jirina must protect fifteen lives hidden beneath glass and leaves, armed with nothing but courage and the language of plants.
