Bail bondsman Sal Brennick has thirty days to produce a runaway blackjack dealer or lose his license, his building, and probably his life. Reno in August 1953 is 104 degrees at midnight, the casinos are owned by men from Los Angeles, and the sheriff's captain would rather sign a lie than open a file.
