A quilted vest, the only heirloom of a family built on silence, hides dozens of names stitched in thread too fine for the naked eye. Toronto conservator Dina Moroz recognizes the pattern for what it is: a record smuggled out of occupied Odessa. As her grandmother's memory fails, Dina races to decode the seams and reconstruct the story of Katya Moroz — the seamstress who forged papers, hid strangers in a root cellar, and refused to let the vanished go unnamed.
